In our modern world, politics is personal, complicated, and spiteful.

Even though staying informed about current political events and elections is more important than ever today, it seems that the availability of objective, accurate information has continued to be dulled. People who want to make a change within our nation are often deterred or misinformed as a result of polarizing news sources and confounding facts.

Moreover, our polarization across information access has severely impacted the trust of the American public to large news corporations. Just 3 months ago, the University of Oxford collaborated with the Reuters Institute to publish findings on 6 continents and 47 markets throughout the world. The results were as simple as they were horrifying - almost 72% of Americans have rising concerns about exactly what is real and fake across online news. This is a problem. Not only because citizens are deceived constantly, but also due to the growing mistrust that has begun to plague any productive spread of information.

Democracy in Focus aims to provide a simplified, and objective source of education. We aim to create a safe, and healthy environment for those who want to learn about politics and the daily events across American.

One of the most interesting features of Democracy in Focus is our weekly news coverage, which breaks down the key events and developments in a clear and concise manner. This allows our viewers to stay up-to-date without getting lost in the details or biased reporting. Our articles examine current events, provide further context of larger issues, reflect on election results and campaigns, and bring top stories right to your screen. While we try to remain neutral, personal bias can get in the way. Luckily, we have a 2-tier-fact-checker system - all our information goes through peer reviewers and constant fact-checking.

For visual learners, there are videos that simplify complicated political topics in an attempt to make it easier for our viewers to grasp complex issues. These videos provide an engaging way to learn about different aspects of the election process and political systems. Every 60 second clip will discuss a broad topic that is prominent in politics, and simplify them for a straightforward explanation.

If listening is more your style, Democracy in Focus also offers interviews - rather than speaking to politicians, we want to provide the full picture. How is the average American affected by political policies? How do these effects differentiate based on ethnicity, gender, and career? What trends can we discover regarding voting patterns of different demographics across America? Join us to learn more about the effects of politics in the lives of all people. In order to empower voices, we opt to give the microphone to everyone, rather than a few lawmakers and politicians.

These features allow a new generation of voters to gain insights into the backgrounds and beliefs of key figures in the political realm, providing a holistic view of the election landscape. Please look forward to weekly posts through articles, interviews, infographics and videos about politics, entirely free.

Create better conversations. Democracy in Focus.
